Ok to drive good 4wd when it works bad gas mileage. If you start having to repair one give up just sell it you'll be better off. Been having tons of issues ever since 120,000 actually started before. Basically everything about the suspension and driveshaft is worn out at 175000 miles. So over 3,000 in the past year and finally find the main issue and it's going to be expensive. 4 by 4 quit well now it's working all of a sudden after a year and a half. We have changed the bulbs and checked the fuses. We have high beams, but no low beams or fog lamps. I have a 1996 Ford Explorer and we are having headlamp and fog lamp problems. Oh yeah defroster quit working and then that whole side of climate control did as did max ac and no one can figure that out either. I have 2010 ford flex limited edition with an electrical problem that I just cant figure out. The hard shift from 1 to 2nd usually when going uphill to the left is the viscous coupler in the transfer case - expensive ! Theres tons of people that replace both abs module and transmission trying to fix this. Well I've replaced rotors all the way around, 4 hub assembly, knuckle in the rear, and abs sensors (was told it needed abs module to fix hard shift by dealer and transmission), had a brake calipher try to come off, upper and lower ball joints, sway bar links (always stick to Napa parts ), tensioner, radiator, bushings, joints and after all this and 6 trips to the shop with me telling them it still had something wrong today I finally found a shop that agreed. I owned my own auto body shop for 10 years and worked in a machine shop for two so I know a decent amount about cars. Had to start driving it again with all the abs lights on and shift issue. Previously I had replaced starter, tensioner, it eats brake pads btw. I had to replace transmission solenoid several years ago and had a "shift issue "that got so bad I parked it for over a year. We purchased this Explorer in 2015 with about 60,000 miles on it. © 1986 - 2021 Autodata, Inc.I like this vehicle except when things start tearing up.
